Napoleon’s Wars Louis François Lejeune, general and painter
Exhibition from 14 February to 13 May 2012
The palace of Versailles is consecrating an exhibition to a unique figure of the 19th century, Louis François Lejeune (1775-1848), who had a threefold career as artist, soldier and politician. Through the work of this eyewitness of Napoleon’s wars, the exhibition aims to show us how a history painting takes form.
Experience with a guide the sovereigns’ intimate environment: the private apartments of Louis XV and Louis XVI, the Royal Opera or the Royal Chapel. Guided tours will give you a glimpse of another Versailles.
Shown in a preview on the Palace’s Facebook page, images from the shooting of Les Adieux à la Reine, the latest film by Benoît Jacquot, presented at the opening of the Berlin International Film Festival on 9 February.
